Mr. Lotkin approaches the law with a passion and work ethic rivaled by few. Long hours, meticulous preparation, and the heartfelt desire to make a difference are his hallmarks. They are what makes him the advocate Hampton Roads has come to count on after the most serious accidents on land or at sea.
“When I go to battle for someone, I give it everything I have. I won’t rest until I know my client is getting the justice they deserve.”
Adam Lotkin has been practicing law for nearly 28 years and does so with a passion for justice helping clients when they are in a tough situation. Growing up outside of Washington D.C., Mr. Lotkin developed a passion for politics and causes relating to civil rights at an early age and recognized a career in law would afford him the opportunity to put his passion for defending the rights and interests of others to constructive use and have an impact on the world around him.
“There are times when we are fighting for things bigger than ourselves. As lawyers, we become social engineers – someone who is trying to change the fabric of society to make it better for everyone, not just the people in power or the people with the most money.”
Throughout high school and college, Adam worked in several different capacities with the United States House of Representatives. He served as a Congressional Page, then a clerk and an intern. After graduating from Lafayette College in 1993, Lotkin went on to complete his Juris Doctorate from Howard University in 1996.
Initially practicing Civil Defense work in California, Mr. Lotkin then returned to Virginia in 2000. Since then, he has helped thousands of clients obtain justice for people whose lives have been impacted by an injury or losing a loved one due to someone else’s recklessness or negligence. Adam has been lead counsel in over 120 jury trials in the Commonwealth of Virginia and Federal Courts, securing millions of dollars for his clients.
“As a lawyer, you have to be a warrior for justice.”
Mr. Lotkin has always championed the underdog in tough situations. In the practice of law, this translates to making sure the average citizen gets a fair shake when confronting large and powerful corporate interests, including insurance companies. Over the course of close to three decades in practice, Adam has helped thousands of clients get the justice and compensation they deserve for their injuries and losses. He attributes his success to both his passion for what he does and his gratitude for what he has.
When he is not in the courtroom or at the firm, you can find Adam enjoying what he values most – his family. He and his wife are raising two thriving teenagers in Virginia Beach where they spend time on their boat or the golf course. Lotkin also sits on the board for CASA, a victim’s advocacy group and the Organizing Committee for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. For Adam, giving back to the community is an important part of being in a leader in Hampton Roads.
