Erik Porcaro began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan, handling complex investigations and arguing jury trials to verdict. He went on to serve as house counsel to a large insurance company, learning the personal injury process from the defendant’s perspective. This background has forged a fierce and incisive litigator, who has successfully represented clients in complex and serious personal injury cases.
“I used to work for an insurance company as a lawyer, and that gave me a lot of insight into how they deal with and evaluate cases because they see cases as numbers, not as individuals.”
He is a valued resource and instructor, having trained lawyers in the insurance industry on trial advocacy, the art of cross-examination and legal ethics. Mr. Porcaro is a popular guest lecturer in New York, Virginia and Washington. D.C. and is a long-standing member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
Erik Porcaro’s record speaks for itself. His ability to dig deep into cases and get the insurance companies to pay what is fair to his clients is driven by his compassion and empathy. As a father, Erik works well with young clients who might be intimidated by legal proceedings. His work as a DA only helps drive him to pursue justice.
Outside the office, Erik is a husband and father. He has three sons, and coaches basketball and lacrosse. In the community, Erik has been involved with Operation Smile since his graduation from college. He continues to serve on its advisory board.
