Lael Pierce

Lael Pierce is driven by a deep passion for defending the rights of others. In the courtroom, her fierce determination stands in stark contrast to the compassionate and empathetic approach she takes with her clients. From a young age, Lael has been a steadfast advocate for those who cannot defend themselves.

“My faith drives what I do and who I am.”

It was her unrelenting defense of a young man in middle school that started Lael Pierce on her path to become a star trial attorney. When the boy was accused of a crime, Lael adamantly advocated in his defense. She recognized that he too was a victim and had a story to tell. Her family recognized they had a future lawyer in their midst.

“I am not afraid of a fight. People mistake my kindness for weakness, but once we are in the courtroom, they quickly realize their error.” 

Lael’s dedication to giving a voice to the voiceless led her to join the Winchester Public Defender’s office after college. She spent a few successful years there before returning to Hampton Roads to serve as a prosecutor in Chesapeake. There, she felt she could make a more significant impact by representing victims, a mission that eventually brought her to Rutter Mills.

“I came to Rutter Mills because I believe in what we are doing here and I respect how we do. I can be successful and practice the law with honor and integrity here.”

With extensive experience as a trial attorney, Lael was ready to advocate for injury victims. Her compassionate nature and deep empathy make her incredibly relatable to clients at Rutter Mills. The firm prepares every case as if it will go to trial, making Lael’s courtroom expertise invaluable. She excels in a role that demands both a compassionate ear for clients and a relentless pursuit of justice in court.

Outside of her professional life, Lael dedicates her time to her family and her faith. She is an avid reader, always eager to learn more. A former athlete and track star, Lael continues to nurture her love for sports and fitness, spending her free time exercising and running.
