A Lyon Shipyard employee was in a fatal accident Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Norfolk, Virginia. According to Angela Costa, Norfolk area director at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Lyon Shipyard employee was killed after being struck by a piece of equipment. The accident happened on a dredge barge. The man was struck while unloading a barge at a contracted location. The shipyard is located at 1818 Brown Avenue in Norfolk.
The victim’s name has not been released and the accident is still under investigation.
